Kumatech, which specializes in Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) and storage systems, focuses entirely on the manufacturing and production industry. The company started with their first AGV Tractor Tom and has grown into a broad portfolio of AGV solutions and storage systems that help companies to organize their internal logistics more efficiently. What was the inspiration behind the founding of Kumatech?
Kumatech originated from Kuunders Technoworks, a mechanical engineering company that had focused on custom-made machines and welding jigs for years. Because customers increasingly needed to automate internal logistics, founder Willem Kuunders saw the opportunity to make the move to AGVs. In 2018, Kumatech was founded and the company started developing their own AGV vehicles. The first models, such as Tractor Tom, Pallet Jack, and recently Forklift Joe, are unique, robust AGVs that are suitable for heavy production environments.
What is the company proud of achieving?
The AGVs have a unique navigation system based on floor structure instead of fixed (milled) induction lines in the floor. This gives production companies the flexibility to automate their logistic processes without complex and expensive adjustments to the building.
