In honor of Digizuite turning 20 this year, we’re diving deep to explore all the layers of Digital Asset Management (DAM). This is the second part of the three-post blog series, which will come together as 20 reasons why every modern enterprise should integrate a DAM solution into their business strategy. Click here to read Part 1, which contains reasons 1-6.
So, without further ado…
7) “There’s an app for that”
Chances are, people across your organization rely on their cell phones and other mobile devices to get work done. After all, according to a 2019 Pew Research fact sheet, more people in the United States own smartphones (81%) than laptops (nearly 75%).
Being able to manage digital assets from a mobile device is a gamechanger, and a sophisticated Digital Asset Management solution will allow you to do it conveniently. Take the Digizuite™ DAM, for instance: it transcodes and optimizes digital assets for all screens so that whenever a user logs in, they will automatically encounter the interface designed for the device they are on.
One Digizuite customer in the brewery industry found our DAM particularly attractive for its mobile capabilities. Digizuite™ Mobile has simplified the onboarding process for their field sales representatives, who have access to what they need, right in their pockets for exactly when they need it, through an easy-to-absorb presentation of information.
8) A solution you can rely on, online or offline
We’ve all found ourselves needing a file when there’s no network available to access it. It’s unsettling how much we all depend on the Internet sometimes. However, this isn’t a problem when your assets are stored in a platform that doesn’t require connectivity for you to get what you need, when you need it. With Digizuite™ Mobile, for instance, users can download assets while they have Internet access so that they can view them offline at any time thereafter.
This is invaluable for sales professionals who visit prospects and customers whose offices are with unreliable Internet. A DAM solution with offline capabilities would also be fantastic for when any kind of professional is representing their company at an industry conference, where quality WiFi is never a given.
9) Get mileage out of all your content
For all the time, effort, and passion that goes into content creation, you would think that your organization would utilize all of it. Unfortunately, that’s just not the case. According to Sirius Decisions, as much as 70% of the content produced by B2B marketers goes unused.
This statistic, though, wouldn’t be a concern for an enterprise investing in a DAM system, which enables even the largest of user bases to keep track of every bit of content that has been produced – along with how, when, and where it gets published.
10) Preserve budget, increase revenue (by keeping things fresh)
Of course, productivity and efficiency translate to profit, but a DAM solution keeps an enterprise’s pockets lined in other ways, too. For example, even with the epidemic of unused content we mentioned earlier, as many as 2/3 of organizations worldwide waste time and money producing duplicate assets (source: IDC). Additionally, according to Business Leader, a 2019 “global study of more than 10,000 office workers, reveal[ed that] Brits spend a whole month a year (30 days) doing work that a colleague has already completed. Five hours and five minutes every week is spent duplicating work.”
It’s no secret that fresh content lures unique website visitors (and potentially new leads), so the simple act of using all the content you have could have a significant impact on sales. Using a DAM solution, you can better manage all of your assets so that they do see the light of day…and foster interest in your offering.
11) Establish and grow new revenue streams
2020 undoubtedly saw a surge in eCommerce. As of April, for example, according to Forbes, “United States retailers’ online year-over-year revenue growth is up 68%, surpassing an earlier peak of 49% in early January,” and “there’s been a 129% year-over-year growth in US and Canadian e-commerce orders as of April 21 and an impressive 146% growth in all online retail orders.”
In other words, your “digital real estate,” or your online presentation, matters now more than ever. With a DAM solution, maximize the opportunity for new revenue streams by establishing your brand effectively wherever it is represented. Being able to share real-time content at every step of a customer’s journey is crucial to their experience online, where they can look for an alternative to your offerings simply by opening a new website tab.
12) Produce high quality video content
Speaking of keeping potential customers on your website, videos will likely do the trick. According to Social Media Today, the drivers in Internet traffic stay on websites that contain video assets longer than they peruse sites without video. Specifically, their research shows that “people stay on websites with videos 60% longer than [they do on] sites with just text and pictures. Google likes pages where people spend time, which they refer to as ‘dwell’ time.”
The Digizuite™ DAM solution manages your video content, and directly within the solution, you can crop and annotate in the videos. This makes it easier for everyone on your team to utilize the videos, and to collaborate over them. The Digizuite™ DAM solution also processes your video using adaptive bitrate to automatically convert the playback into the highest quality possible.
13) Manage multi-dimensional assets
In ways that even videos cannot, Artificial Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) assets can add volumes to the customer experience (especially in today’s virtual-focused world). And, Digizuite’s DAM solution makes it simple to archive, manage, and share even the largest of files – including VR and AR content. For example, construction project stakeholders use our DAM software to work with 3D models and CAD files out of the same platform that helps them manage rich media content like photos and videos.
