The rendering speed you need
Autodesk Fusion 360 is a single solution to develop and detail designs quickly. The KeyShot plugin for Autodesk Fusion 360 compliments this by bringing the speed of KeyShot rendering to Fusion 360 users in the first ever, direct compatibility with your Fusion 360 data. It’s the highest level of integration between your Fusion 360 session and KeyShot allowing you to export your geometry directly to KeyShot for rendering and keep it updated with KeyShot’s LiveLinkingTM technology.
How it works
The KeyShot plugin for Fusion 360 is installed via a small file that adds menu items to the Fusion 360 interface. Within Fusion 360, you can work on your design and transfer to KeyShot at any time throughout the process. With the LiveLinking support, any changes made in Fusion 360 can be transferred to KeyShot.
After the plugin is installed and your model is open in Fusion 360, select Autorun Scripts…, locate AutoRunKeyShotExport and right click to enable. Select the Export to KeyShot option from the Image dropdown menu. Your exported scene will appear in KeyShot.
As soon KeyShot is started from Fusion 360 through the Export to KeyShot option, the two applications are linked. You may assign materials, set up animations or set up lighting and camera angles inside KeyShot. In Fusion 360, you may continue to refine your model. When you are satisfied with the changes, select Update KeyShot from the Image pulldown menu. All updated parts (geometry/location) will be replaced inside KeyShot with all materials, animations, etc. also maintained. Note: New parts will be added to the scene and may not automatically get painted.
Download & Installation
The script is available to download below and soon via the Fusion 360 Exchange website. The installation will add a file to your KeyShot plugins folder and a file to your Fusion 360 MyScripts folder.
Both KeyShot and Fusion 360 must be installed on the same machine in order for the plugin and LiveLinking to function properly.
- Maintain color assignments on the part and assembly level
- Maintain assembly structure
- Transfer saved camera views
- Live linking – update model inside KeyShot
- Export to bip without KeyShot installed
- Fusion 360
- KeyShot 4
- Mac OS X 10.6 or later
- Windows 7/8 32 or 64-bit
Once your plugin is installed, your focal point for plugin support is through Luxion support available at firstname.lastname@example.org.
- Changes to the scene made at the root. For instance: adding new geometry at the top level of the assembly that is not under a sub-component or part.
- Changes to T-Spline geometry.
These will be caught in future versions, but for now, we have included the “Manual update” mode so the user can manually circumvent these problems.
KeyShot is widely recognized as the best rendering software, the easiest and most powerful when it comes selling a concept, creating internal presentations, exploring digital prototyping, and creating sales or marketing images – all from your 3D data. With drag and and drop ease of use, real world lighting and scientifically accurate materials, create product visuals faster than ever before.
